Bo the Border Collie Says,

"Meet Ben"

I wanted you to meet my little brother Ben.

Ben is a Great Pyrenees who came from Highland Pyrs in Indiana to be our livestock protection dog after we had trouble with those pesky coyotes. I must admit, I had my doubts about him fighting coyotes when I saw he was just a pup.

So I did my best to try to teach him to herd so at least he could be good at something.... But he keeps telling me he wasn't meant to herd, and he just wants to play.

He is so gentle with all creatures here, both tame ones and wild ones, that he even says "please" when he asks the other critters here to move, and I wondered how he might be tough enough to scare off coyotes. He even shares his dog food with any passerby!

But somehow he grew bigger than me, and he also has a BIG BARK.

He must be doing a good job. No chickens have been stolen by coyotes since he came here.

Now he's even as big as a horse.
